Britannia, a female figure that personifies the island of Great Britain, is depicted on the reverse, as she clutches a tridon in her left hand and a shield in her right. BRITANNIA, 2015, 1 OZ, and 999 FINE SILVER are engraved on the coin’s outer edge.
Ian Rank-Broadley’s effigy of Queen Elizabeth II graces the obverse. ELIZABETH II, D.G. (reigning by the grace of God), REG FID DEF (defender of the faith) and 2 POUNDS are also inscribed.
Produced by the British Royal Mint, the 2015 Silver Britannia is composed of 1 troy oz of .999 fine silver. Each coin arrives in BU condition. (This .999 silver coin has a face value of £2.)
The Britannia is 38.6 mm in diameter with a reeded edge. It was first released in 1997, though the Gold Britannia was first issued in 1987.
